Leongatha Healthcare is situated in the picturesque hills of South Gippsland, Victoria. Leongatha is a town of approximately 6,500 people, 150 kilometres south-east of Melbourne. There is easy access (20 minutes) to the nearest beach at Inverloch, a popular tourist resort, and one hour to Tidal River at the natural and beautiful Wilsons Promontory. The Latrobe Valley, with the Victorian snowfields beyond, is about one hours drive north, so the area is literally "between the mountains and the sea". The township of Leongatha is home to Murray Goulburn, producers of Devondale products. The large processing plant provides employment to a large number of the population. The town has excellent facilities, including several primary and secondary schools, a TAFE campus, a four screen cinema complex, varied sporting facilities including an aquatic centre, 11 court tennis club, a first class velodrome and two golf courses, quality shopping facilities, art and craft outlets and government services. |

This large group practice of 15 doctors has its main practice in Leongatha, with a branch practice in Inverloch and another branch in Jeffrey Street, Leongatha. All clinics are fully accredited and are linked to a central computer database. |
Clinical |
The doctors, who normally receive a full day off each week, provide a 24-hour on-call service. Many of the doctors choose to work part time. There is full-time practice nurse support available at Leongatha Clinic, and a full range of allied health services is available through the local hospital and private agencies. The hospital is well equipped, with pathology and radiology services, including CT and echocardiography. |

All practices operate daily, with doctors travelling from Leongatha to service the Inverloch Clinic. Leongatha Clinic hours are 8.30 am to 6 pm Monday to Friday, and 9.00 am to 12.00 pm Saturday for emergencies. |
Registrar Conditions |
Leongatha Healthcare has three modern two-bedroom units available for registrars. All of these are fully furnished with internet access. The units are within walking distance of the clinic and hospital. |
