Geography & Lifestyle |
|
|
The Korumburra Medical Centre is
a rural general practice 120kms south of Melbourne, set amongst the
rolling green hills of South Gippsland. |
|
Building |
|
|
Our
practice was established in 1967 and operates from purpose-built rooms.
We have six consulting rooms and a well-equipped treatment room. The
Medical Centre gained full accreditation in March 2000 and have been
reaccredited each three years since. We also have a branch clinic at
Loch which approximately 20 minutes from Korumburra on the Melbourne
side. We have 2 consulting rooms and a nurse's room at Loch. |
|
Clinical |
|
|
We are fully computerised and provide a wide range of services to the local community. The practice encourages the ongoing medical
education via attending divisional educational meetings, satellite
broadcasting meetings and a variety of local continuing medical
education meetings. Being close to Melbourne there are an endless
variety of programs and short courses available as well as the expanding
role of distance education. |
|
Hours / After Hours |
|
|
There is a great deal of
flexibility with the working hours of the medical centre. Currently the
partners work approximately 8 sessions per week with one full day off
and associates work 6 to 8 sessions per week. On call is 1:6 first
on-call weekend days (weekends are split between 2 doctors) and on
average one on-call evening per week. Our doctors have four to six
weeks holidays at a time convenient to the practice and with our
current numbers we are able to cover days off without the need for
looking for locum coverage. |
|
Registrar Conditions |
|
|
There are a variety of houses in and around Korumburra for rent and
purchase and the medical centre has access to 2, 2-bedroom units one
owned by a local service club and the other privately. |
