Our doctors practise at Cowes, San Remo and Grantville. Cowes Medical Centre and San Remo Medical Clinic ( both purpose built) provide the general practice services to Phillip Island and San Remo and surrounding areas of the Bass Coast Region. |
Clinical |
|
Our three partners have extensive experience in general practice over many years, whilst we have a range of assistants with many varied skills and backgrounds. The range of experience is very broad and covers a host of medical problems in all age groups of the residents, and of the visitor population, of whom there are 1.5 million annually. There is ample opportunity to learn and/or enhance skills in dealing with day to day issues and chronic disease management. We have very busy treatment rooms at both Cowes and San Remo as our nearest local hospital is at Wonthaggi, and therefore many patients present directly to the clinics in the first instance. Our general practitioners liaise constantly with other practitioners who admit to Bass Coast Regional Health, or with tertiary hospitals in the region or Melbourne for those patients who need urgent medical care. The philosophy of PIMG is to provide the best features of traditional rural general practice and comprehensive medical care to all individuals and families in our region. |

Personal and family interests are seen as key aspects of a life as a rural GP and scheduling of sessions and holiday leave reflects our philosophy of a balanced mix of professional and private life. Our 'family' friendly in and after hours roster (after hours only to 10pm) allows plenty of time off . We hold our own in-house CPD program and have a variety of social evenings for all staff. Doctors and family members can join a variety of sporting clubs, social clubs, participate in drama, personal education & development at different facilities on Phillip Island and the surrounding community. Doctors of the Phillip Island Medical Group are committed to teaching and on-going medical education, and are active in South Gippsland Division of General Practice.
