What is Gippsland Education and Training for General Practice (getGP)?
getGP is one of 21 Regional Training Providers established for delivering training for general practice across Australia. getGP delivers general practice training in Gippsland. getGP programs
getGP delivers training under four programs. The first program is provision of the training pathway to vocational registration for general practice in Australia. The second program is Advanced Training for Rural General Practice; most doctors undertaking this training do this as an extension of their primary vocational training. The third program is the ‘Post Graduate Prevocational Placement Program’ (PGPPP) which provides prevocational doctors with an experience of rural general practice. The fourth program is a program of support in achieving the college Fellowship in General Practice for International Graduates who are not in the training pathway (ISFP).
getGP actively supports training in aboriginal health through the local Aboriginal Community Health Organisations.
Registrars and supervisors with an interest in academic general practice are supported with grants and with collaborative placements with Monash University Rural Clinical Schools.
